On Friday 27 December 2024, we were contacted by a lady who we helped a while ago asking us to help her friend. Her friend had just rescued 2 German Shepherds as the owner has passed away.
When the new owner got home with the dogs in Droylsden M43, Bianca, a white GSD, managed to escape the car. The other dog, who she is bonded to, was taken from the car first, upon arrival home. Bianca panicked, and twisted herself out of her collar and bolted. (Bianca is a very nervous frightened dog who had hidden from the previous owner’s son for several days in the house.)
We advised that, even though Bianca didn’t know the area, she would very likely come back to where she ran from which was outside the new owner’s house. That’s all she knew in the area and she would work with that. She hadn’t been inside the house so was very unlikely to go inside. We advised for the car door to be left open overnight with some food in it. Bianca was seen twice during the night going into the car and eating the food. Unfortunately there was no way of getting to the car and shutting it when she was inside.
Yesterday, she was seen a few times still in the area. We didn’t do a Facebook post as we usually do for a lost dog as we knew she was still nearby and that she had been back to the car and ate. It was best not drawing any more attention to her by doing a post as we knew she would be safe soon.
Last night we set the trap in front of the house. We even saw Bianca further down the street lay down watching us! When we left, half an hour later, Bianca showed on camera at the trap. We had only driven a couple of streets away knowing it was likely she was going to go to the trap soon.
Three minutes after circling the trap, smelling the food, she entered the trap and the door was closed. Safe. Welcome to your new happy life Bianca .
