On Wednesday 5th March, we were notified of a stray border collie roaming around Helmshore BL8. He had been seen the day before and witnesses had seen him get hit by two vehicles on the busy road. This road is a 60mph road, but thankfully, where he was hit, there were temporary traffic lights so the vehicles were going much slower.
We set the trap on a property where the householders had been leaving him food. (At this point we want to say a big thank you to the householders for not only feeding him, but allowing us to set the trap on their property). This was on Wednesday. He visited the trap but it wasn’t until Saturday 8th March at 12.39am, that he went into it fully and was safely caught.
During the time that he had been roaming, he was seen to go to a certain spot and stand there watching, as if he was waiting for someone. We believe he was waiting for the person who has abandoned him there. Since he was trapped, he has been looked after by a volunteer, and he is such a lovely boy. We had managed to get the person on the chip details (NOT the person who abandoned him) to sign him over to us at Greater Manchester Lost Dog Search & Rescue Capture Team C.I.C. The plan being, after we secured a rescue place at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, to then sign him over to Bleakholt.
He went to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and stole the hearts of staff (thank you Bleakholt) and was adopted very quickly where he is now in his forever home.
