Wally’s Success Story February 2025

Wally escaped his dog minders on the 6th February 2025 in Bromley Cross, Bolton BL7 while his owner was away. He is a Polish Rescue dog and nervous. We set up feed stations and a live camera at the house and where he had been seen. He was reluctant to take food but still visited the feedstations. Kind locals had been leaving food for him so we needed to appeal to them not to so he would feed from our feed station which would then allow us to humanely trap him.

Wally’s owner came back on the10th February and we worked with him, guiding him on what to do. Wally was in his ‘safe area’ so owner sat down on the ground and waited quietly. Wally didn’t hesitate and walked cautiously towards him but as soon as he was close enough and he picked up his owners scent fully, he was in his arms. Safe at last Wally. We would like to give our thanks to Eagley Primary school for their assistance and patience, allowing access for the team, Wally’s dog minder and Wally’s owner for doing exactly what we said and following our advice. (We were involved initially as people thought he was Pumpkin from an initial description until we contacted and spoke to the person who saw Wally that first night and told us the dog seen was black). Wally tried to get back to his dog minder at night when he made his excursion from the forest but couldn’t pluck up courage to go fully inside the house. He did try several times bless him.

Wally was very reluctant to let people approach him as before being adopted he had been a street dog in Poland for 5 years.

Stay safe now Wally
